Frequently Asked Questions

Where does Tracey Cuthbertson Interiors work?

Tracey Cuthbertson Interiors is a Scotland-based interior design studio working with homeowners, property investors and short-term let owners across Edinburgh, Glasgow, St Andrews, Fife, Angus and other areas of Scotland.

I offer interior design, furniture sourcing, procurement, installation and styling, with both on-site and remote design services available depending on the project.

What interior design services do you offer?

I offer a flexible, furniture-led approach to interior design, from individual rooms through to complete properties.

Services include:

  • Full Interior Design & Furnishing: Concept development, furniture layouts, colour schemes, lighting, artwork and decorative details, followed by sourcing, procurement, installation and final styling where required.

  • Room by Room Interior Design: A focused service for individual rooms that need a clear design direction and a more considered, cohesive feel.

  • Short-Term Let & Holiday Home Design: Furnishing and styling for short-term rentals, holiday lets, investment properties and second homes, balancing character and comfort with the practicalities of how the property will be used.

  • Property Staging: Styling and furnishing advice for occupied properties being prepared for sale or photography.

  • Remote Interior Design: Professional design direction for clients who are happy to implement the finished scheme themselves.

  • Interior Design Consultations: Focused advice on furniture layouts, colour, sourcing and styling.

How much does it cost to work with Tracey Cuthbertson Interiors?

Every project is different, so my fees are based on the size of the property, the scope of work and the level of involvement required.

Following an initial conversation, I’ll recommend the most appropriate service and provide a clear proposal outlining my fee and what is included.

For larger furnishing projects, furniture, procurement, delivery, installation and other project costs are discussed separately so there is a clear understanding of the overall investment before work begins.

Do you work with period properties?

Yes. I particularly enjoy working with period properties and creating interiors that complement the character of the building without feeling overly traditional.

My work is primarily focused on furniture, layout, colour, lighting, artwork, textiles and styling, rather than structural renovation. Where building work is involved, I can work alongside the client's architect, contractor or relevant trades.

Can you manage my interior design project if I live elsewhere?

Yes. I regularly work with clients who don't live near their property, including overseas clients.

Depending on the scope, I can manage the design, sourcing and procurement process, coordinate deliveries, oversee installation and style the finished property while keeping you updated throughout.

This is particularly useful for second homes, holiday homes and short-term rental properties in Scotland where the owner cannot be on site regularly.

Do you design short-term rental and holiday let properties?

Yes. Short-term let design is an important part of my work.

I design and furnish properties to feel distinctive, welcoming and memorable while considering the practical requirements of a rental property. This can include everything from the initial design concept and furniture sourcing through to procurement, installation, artwork, accessories and final styling.

What is the interior design process?

The exact process depends on the project, but typically it follows four stages:

  1. Discovery: We start with a conversation about the property, how it will be used, what you want it to feel like, your timeframe and anticipated investment.

  2. Design: I develop the overall direction, including layouts, colour, furniture, lighting, artwork, textiles and the details that give the space its character.

  3. Sourcing & Procurement: Once the design is agreed, I source the pieces, place and track orders and coordinate deliveries where this forms part of the project.

  4. Installation & Styling: For full-service projects, I oversee the final installation and bring everything together with artwork, accessories and styling.

The result is an interior that feels warm, layered and individual — but also comfortable, practical and appropriate for the way it will actually be used.
